Buenos Aires, November 19 (NA) -- The Board of Directors of the Argentine Confederation of Transport Workers (CATT) expressed the need to "adopt a firm and unified stance" against the labor reform promoted by the government of Javier Milei.
The general secretary of the CATT, Juan Carlos Schmid, stated that the path to promoting employment in Argentina "is to advance in a comprehensive tax reform that allows companies to invest and generate jobs, and not a brutal labor reform that seeks to return to conditions reminiscent of times of exploitation and lack of protection".
According to what the Argentine News Agency was able to learn, the union secretary, Juan Pablo Brey, expressed himself in the same vein, reinforcing the idea that "any transformation of the labor market must have as its axis the dignity of workers and respect for collective agreements".
For his part, Omar Pérez, deputy secretary of the Confederation, intervened firmly by highlighting the need to "in a unified way defend the rights conquered by the organized labor movement".
Also present was the Secretary of Institutional Relations, Hugo Moyano (h), an elected national deputy, with whom the future parliamentary strategy to reject the initiatives promoted by President Javier Milei's government was analyzed.
In this sense, they highlighted the importance of "articulating efforts within Congress" to stop any attempt to trample on labor rights.
During the meeting, the need to build a proactive agenda for the future was emphasized, which includes the modernization of the transport system, the defense of employment and the improvement of working conditions, always with a clear and non-negotiable position against labor reform.
